Multi-level-marketing is a very effective way to make money online. And there are a number of companies online that offer MLM opportunities. Since this business model is very effective, many online entrepreneurs are spenting a lot of time and resources to get set up with these MLM programs and every day more and more people are joining these MLM opportunities.
Unfortunately though, just like there are a number of MLM opportunities online, there are a number of MLM scams online as well. MLM scams are increasing daily and very often, it involves you putting in hours of work for little to no reward while the company you’re working for is reaping in the rewards of your hard work. This has an adverse effect on the industry. It scares a lot of people away from the industry and it gives the MLM industry a bad name. If you look for MLM opportunities online, you will find a number of sites on the front page itself that talk about MLM scams.
If you truly want to avoid these scams, you need to do your research beforehand. Setting up your own business is like building a house, if your foundation is strong, you will have a strong house and peace of mind. Similarly, if you want to build a strong business and have peace of mind, you need to research MLM companies and make sure that your business partners of the future are the kind of people you want to work with.
Here are some ways to spot an MLM scam:
1) Websites: Take a look at these websites MLMWatchDog.org, MLMSurvivor and MLMWatchDog.com to research MLM opportunities before deciding to join one. There are a number of other similar websites, but these three sites cover a majority of problem websites as well as people's reports of bad experiences with different MLM programs.
2) Forums: There are a number of online forums that deal with MLM research also. There are too many to mention however you can look up DigitalPoint and WarriorForm to research MLM opportunities. Talk to people on these sites and ask them if they have worked with any MLM companies and find out their opinions on these companies.
3) Look for warning signs: There are certain things you should look out for with any MLM program because there are certain blatant warning signs that tell you right off the bat if the program could be a scam or not. If you experience any of the following, run for the hills:
a. Your upline sponsor is not willing to work with you.
b. The product you’re selling has low demand or a bad reputation.
c. You are asked to sell to distributors.
d. You are guaranteed a high income.
e. You are told that you can succeed if you work part time.
There are no shortcuts in MLM and it takes patience, hard work and time to make money. Remember that if someone promises you quick money for little work and it sounds to good to be true it's probably an MLM SCAM
If you do your research before you commit to any MLM opportunity, you will be saving yourself from being another one of the thousands of people who have been scammed by unscrupulous marketers in search for a quick buck.
