How to Start a Green Home Based Business
Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 01:52PM By Kevin Thomas
More people today are starting their own businesses right from home. There are numerous factors for this, including the insecurity of the job market as well as available technology that makes it easier to work from home for yourself. Going green is one of the big movements around the world, and accordingly many people are now combining that passion with the desire to start their own business from home. The result is a whole new breed of green businesses that individuals are starting up and running all on their own.
Get Started Today With Your Own Green Business

Of course, before you get started with your own green business you have to determine what niche you are going to be going after and targeting. This can be a difficult decision and there are several different routes you can take. Do you want to sell a green product that people are looking for? Or do you want to utilize green processes to make your business more efficient and environmentally friendly?
Many businesses don't sell anything "green" but instead maximize the green efficiency of their services and their business processes. In this way you can attract more customers who are seeking to make a difference in terms of their impact on the planet without needing to sell anything that's actually green. You can make your business green by offsetting your carbon and energy usage by planting trees or buying credits from companies who perform similar tasks. This allows you to be carbon neutral, which means you offset all of the pollution you cause and energy you use.
In a competitive marketplace, being able to say that you are green and Earth friendly can help you win customers who would otherwise choose a competitor. In fact, many consumers would actually choose a more expensive company if they can boast environmentally sound policy. This allows you to establish a profitable business and help the planet at the same time.
Green Business Alternatives
If you're looking to go the other route and actually produce and sell a green product you have to determine what you are going to make, resell and offer as well as what types of social media marketing strategies you plan to use. So what are some of the most popular green products that people are looking for today? For one thing, people are looking for home solar panels and energy kits that they can use to get their house "off the grid".
Many other people are looking for products to help make their automobiles more energy efficient. Home gardening and composting products are also popular. However this is only the beginning, and you'll find that there is a green product in nearly every niche or market.
As you can see there are many different considerations when you want to take on a new green business from home. You have to think about the niche you are going to target, and you have to think about whether you will provide a green product, make your processes more green or both. Forming a green home business can be rewarding and profitable, and anyone can get started with it once they know how to begin.

Sometimes going green is as easy as choosing the right hosting company! Hosting environments require huge amounts of energy to both run the servers and to keep the server environment cool and contaminate free. There are a handful of hosting companies that use wind power and make other concessions to qualify as a green host. Advertising Online instead of in print media can also be considered green. Using an Online or computer filing system instead of paper is also green. Backing up your files on an external hard drive instead of creating an enormous amount of paper to store is also green.
Just a few more ideas for us people that are not selling green products.

It is true, that there is a growing population that is committed to eco-friendly lifestyles.
It is very helpful to provide a brief overview of the options out there, and I am sure the list is growing for "green" businesses.
As with all businesses, the same elements are present. How great to incorporate earth friendly products and practices in all you do--business and home. also a great booming economy niche. Very important for a successful business.
If I were more brave, I would color my hair green! It's now 16 years I've lived off the grid.
There are many challenges but overall it has been a satisfying experience.
It's also nice to know that even your hosting provider can be from a green source.
There is no stopping this movement and it can be a very lucrative niche for a fearless internet marketer.

The new Buzzzz Word
Going green is definitely the new buzz word but to me, if you are going green or selling green products, you must be practicing it and knowledgeable in how to do it properly. Not just use the word. Researching this niche would be well worth a persons efforts.
Of course everyone may do their small part in going green.. Such as not commuting as much, and starting a home business or bringing your job closer to home. I know I started my home business to get off the highway and a hundred mile commute each day.
If each of us learns to do our small part in the world, we could make it a better and cleaner place.
This is great stuff, just by working at home you've already cut your C02 output in half...
